Honey
Dutch
Age: 12 years 4 months
Weight: 4.5 lbs.
Honey lost her best friend, Felix, last year. Felix and Honey were best friends for approximately 6 years; he had been her constant companion in foster care.
Honey is curious and remains very active despite being an older rabbit. She is a sweetheart in disguise who loves to explore; she'd really enjoy having her own room or even a whole house to romp in!
Can you be Honey's companion in her golden years?

Waldo
Satin X
Age: 5 years 3 months
Weight: 5 lbs.
Waldo is a great rabbit who is just a little more reserved and can even be a little timid around people - he prefers to make you work for his affections! He would do best in a quiet home with someone who is willing to let him be his "own bunny", and can be respectful of his need for some space. Once he warms up he loves to be petted, and will "present" for grooming, as he is used to living with another rabbit who took very good care of him. Waldo loves his playtime, and is very interested in exploring.
Waldo was originally adopted and subsequently paired with another rabbit, Wendy. Unfortunately, they were returned a couple of months later because, "The kids wouldn't take care of them." It is important for parents to truthfully fill out adoption questionnaires. Rabbits must be the responsibility of an adult in the home - kids are inherently unreliable when it comes to daily care for animals.

Melina - Update December 2008
English Spot mix
Age: 3 years 7 months
Weight: 6.3 lbs.
Melina was dumped at the shelter in August 2006, shuffled to an adoption program then back to the shelter.
Melina has evolved into a spunky, spirited rabbit who is enjoying her quiet environment and her new bigger cage in foster care. When out of her enclosure, Melina loves to be petted and will hop up to her foster family for pets.
Melina has some insecurity about food which will require consistent behavior, patience and understanding. Her foster mom is willing to provide pointers to set Melina up for success in her forever home.
Her foster family has discovered that Melina loves sugar-free papaya tablets. Melina has progressed to the point where she does binkies when we walk into the room and takes the papaya tablets from our fingers very gently. This is tremendous progress for a rabbit with food insecurities!
Melina has developed a special friendship with one of her foster mom's rabbits through a shared barricade. Melina would do well in a pairing situation with the right rabbit. Melina would thrive in a home under the care of a person with prior rabbit experience. Can you provide Melina a forever home where she will be loved and cherished on her terms?

Gretel
Age: 5 years 5 months
Weight: 4 lbs.
Gretel was recently returned to foster care, her family was moving and could not bring her along.
Gretel is a sweet rabbit who likes to be petted. Gretel loves her daily run time, but also likes to settle down, sitting in your lap, to be petted - a nice balance. Can you provide Gretel a home where she can be cherished?

Eponine
Rex
Age: 3 years 8 months
Weight: 6.5 lbs.
Eponine was found wandering in a suburban Indianapolis neighborhood late at night. IHRS volunteers captured her, but could not find another rabbit who we believe was roaming with her. Eponine is friendly and enjoys house rabbit life with proper food and shelter!
Eponine is spayed and available for adoption. Can you provide her a home where she is cherished?

JuJu - Update December 2008
English Angora
Age: 4 years 2 months
Weight: 9 lbs.
Juju is a shelter rescue who found her way to IHRS foster care after her adoptive Mom and special IHRS volunteer tragically died in an automobile accident (May 2007). Consider honoring her Mom's memory to Indiana domestic rabbits by providing Juju or another IHRS foster rabbit a forever home.
JuJu is a very fun rabbit who is very curious, nosing into everything when she is out for run time. Juju is a sweet girl who loves to be petted. Angoras require frequent brushing and/or monthly hair cuts to keep their coats tangle-free and manageable:
http://www.rabbit.org/care/angora.html
Grooming her is easy since her former Mom handled her often for this task.
JuJu has been diagnosed with persistent upper respiratory infections. When being treated, JuJu may require as many as two oral medications and two medications that are delivered by nebulizer daily. JuJu is model patient, we can tell that she feels better after her "breathing treatments."
Juju's ongoing veterinary monitoring and treatment are very expensive. Donations to defray her medical costs would be greatly appreciated.
Juju will require an owner with significant experience caring for ill rabbits and an understanding that Juju can transmit her infection to other rabbits living in residence. Can you provide Juju the home of her dreams?

Kristie - Updated June 2008
English Spot X
Age: 4 years
Weight: 5.5 lbs.
Kristie is a sweet girl rescued from a metropolitan shelter when her time ran out.
Kristie is a gorgeous girl with a cute two-tone tail (black on the tip,
white on the rest). She is learning that people = headrubs and yummy salad. She's very adventurous when she's out for play time, zipping around and jumping for joy. She's really gotten used to being petted and getting head/cheek rubs - she used to shy away from physical contact. She's a little bit cage possessive because she likes her toys etc. arranged in the way she had them, which isn't necessarily the neatest to us humans. She likes to hide in her cage, ripping up newspaper to make a nest to hide in. She absolutely loves to shred newspaper! She'll make a wonderful companion. She'd probably do best in a quieter household without young children.

Duke
Dwarf mix
Age: 2 years 4 months
Weight: 3.5 lbs.
Duke is a transfer from our adoption partner, Heartland. He is very sweet, and after spending some time in a shelter, he is learning all about being a house rabbit.
Duke has settled into a very loving, energetic rabbit that is very entertaining to watch. He loves to be petted and even follows you around the house to see what you are doing. He is also a destructo-bun - he enjoys carving cardboard boxes and baskets! He has recently made holes so he can access the hay box at his leisure.
Duke is a very special rabbit that deserves a forever home where he will be treasured for the fun-loving rabbit he is. Can you provide him the love and security that he deserves?

Mae - Update December 2008
New Zealand
Age: 3 years 10 months
Weight: 7.25 lbs.
Lucky for Mae, a good samaritan observed a person dumping she and 4 other rabbits by the side of a rural/wooded road. The good samaritan knew the rabbits were in trouble, picked them up, and contacted an IHRS volunteer.
Her foster mom often wonders what happened to Mae in her previous "home." Mae has been quite traumatized by this experience (September 2007), requiring significant TLC in foster care to learn to trust humans once again. With patience and understanding, Mae has evolved into a sweet, friendly, very cautious rabbit who seeks out human attention and enjoys being gently petted. Mae loves her daily run time and will actively seek out her foster mom for face pets! Mae is not destructive and we feel she would transition very well to a free-run house rabbit.
Mae will require an owner with the patience to allow a previously traumatized rabbit time to trust once again. Her foster mom is confident that her personality will shine even more in an environment where she will get more daily one-on-one attention.
Can you provide Mae a home where she will be cherished as a tender soul?

Bumper
New Zealand Mix
Age: 1 years 7 months
Weight: 5 lbs.
Bumper is a sweet boy, who loves to explore during run time. Bumper has had the best start at life, he was born in IHRS foster care (Hyzenthlay, Dec 20, 2007). All of his brothers have been adopted, now it is sweet Bumper's turn!
Bumper was the baby bunny embodiment of bumper cars... he loved to run and crash into his brothers during freerun time, sending them sliding. He's a friendly, outgoing kit who has discovered a passion for parsley.
Since he was neutered, Bumper has learned the fine art of binkying and loves to kick his feet up during play time. Bumper is feeling at ease with people, enjoys being petted, and will climb onto your legs or into your lap to solicit attention.
Won't you give this wonderful, sweet boy a chance to win your heart?

Arwen
Mix
Age: 3 years 6 months
Weight: 7 lbs.
A good samaritan discovered that Arwen, housed in a hutch outside, was not being fed and was starving to death. Fortunately for Arwen, this kind soul fed her and convinced her owners to relinquish her, versus put her in the stew pot (January 2008).
Arwen is happy to be housed indoors and has recovered from ear mites. Arwen is a spirited girl who is learning that hands bring tasty food and deliver wonderful pets. She does the most wonderful bunny stretches and flops during her daily run time. Arwen has mastered the fine art of binkying and playing with toys!
Can you provide Arwen the home of her dreams?

Harrison
Flemish Giant
Age: 2 years 2 months
Weight: 11 lbs.
Harrison was rescued from a busy municipal shelter when his time ran out, along with his siblings. He is somewhat shy and reserved but warms up to his surroundings.
Harrison tends to be hesitant around petting and too much attention from people, though he loves to approach on his own terms for a snack or to bonk ankles with his nose. He will need an understanding adopter who can let him move at his own pace--giant binkies are great, but don't expect to snuggle this big lug!

Olive
Lionhead
Age: 1 years 3 months
Weight: 3.5 lbs.
Olive is a sweet, shy girl who has warmed up nicely to her new surroundings. A bit skittish, she would prefer a quiet home with a patient person who's willing to let her personality unfold in its own time. She adores dragging little toys with tags and ribbons on them, which is quite amusing to watch! She's probably not a good "first bunny" as she's prone to non-aggressive nipping and some cage-possessive "grumbling" which can be a bit alarming to the inexperienced bunny person (particularly a household with children).
Olive is being fostered in Fort Wayne.

Foo is a confident rabbit that will do well in just about any household situation. Foo will delight you with her binkies, loves rattly, jingly toys, and does the most outrageous bunny flops when she needs a rest.
Can you provide Foo the home of her dreams where she will be cherished?

Tess
Lionhead
Age: 1 years 6 months
Weight: 2.8 lbs.
Tess is a sweet-natured, petite lionhead who's warming up to her surroundings in foster care, learning to love life as a house rabbit where she actually gets daily run times and gets to enjoy hay and greens! She's still struggling with some cage-possessiveness issues, which hinders her suitability to the inexperienced rabbit person or a household with small children.
Tess is being fostered in Fort Wayne.

Christopher
Rex
Age: 1 years 2 months
Weight: 5 lbs.
My name is Christopher and I have a sad story. I was dumped in Eagle Creek Park this spring by some people and thankfully was found. Being a house rabbit, I cannot survive on my own outside.
It is time to look for that new family who will care for me the way I am supposed to be cared for. I'm a mellow, friendly, well-behaved guy; can you give me the home I deserve?
Come and meet Christopher at the Fort Wayne Petco store.

Spencer
Mini lop
Age: 4 years 2 months
Weight: 6 lbs.
Spencer was found on Mother's Day weekend, hopping along behind his rescuer's riding lawn mower... he's obviously not afraid of anything!
Spence has had a rough time since his rescue. He underwent incisor removal within a week of rescue; he has a bit of an underbite, and his top incisors would never wear properly against the bottom incisors which would mean life-long tooth trims. He's doing very well without his incisors; rabbits have very mobile lips, and he's able to move his food into his mouth without those big ol' teeth. Unfortunately, Spencer is currently undergoing treatment for worms - a parasite he very likely picked up during his time as a stray bunny. Once he's done with his course of treatment and regains some weight, he will be ready for the big snip!
Through all of this Spencer has shown himself to be a happy-go-lucky guy who wants nothing more than the freedom to run around the bunny room. He enjoys being petted, and he especially loves to get treats. His litter box habits currently leave quite a bit to be desired, but we expect that will change dramatically once he has been neutered. Stay tuned for updates and pictures!

Willa
Harlequin
Age: 3 years 2 months
Weight: 8 lbs.
Willa was rescued from a local animal control agency where she had been taken by a good Samaritan who found her in his backyard. Though the shelter staff thought she was messy, she has been one of the tidiest rabbits her foster mom has ever had in residence, even before her spay.
Willa has acclimated quickly to the life of a house rabbit - she uses the litter box as if she's been doing it all her life, she plays with toys, she "carves" cardboard boxes, and she turns her pellet bowl upside down to let you know it needs to be refilled. She likes to be petted, but needs a little convincing at first - she's definitely not sure about hands coming into her condo, and is much more confident when she's out running around.
Willa would do just fine in a house with cats, and possibly dogs - we advise that any interaction with predatory animals always happen under supervision. Willa has had very little interaction with children, but would likely be okay with older children who can understand that rabbits tend to be shy and need their space.
If you're interested in meeting Willa, please complete our online adoption questionnaire.

Freida
Satin
Age: 4 years 2 months
Weight: 5 lbs.
Freida was recently rescued from a shelter where she was a resident for nearly one year. Due to an unfortunate mishap at the shelter, she became pregnant and had a litter of kits. She was a good mom, the kits were recently weaned, and Freida is now ready for a home of her own.
Freida is a friendly, outgoing rabbit with impeccable litterbox habits even before spay. Freida loves to be petted on the head and actively seeks attention of her foster mom.
Frieda will be spayed after she stops lactating and she puts on some weight. Can you provide Freida the home that she has waited for so long?
