One day in April, we tracked down a bunny with a dangly leg who was set free in Indianapolis and was being chased by cats. He made his way to Indianapolis Animal Care Services, then to IHRS, and then we took him to Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic of Indianapolis for urgent medical care. Within a day, Farley was having orthopedic surgery for a rear leg broken in at least four places!
Farley's leg was repaired with pins and an external fixator. He had several radiograph checkups over the next several weeks. After two months in this contraption and on strict cage rest, Farley had his pins out! He is now healing and getting stronger with his leg. He has been neutered and is available for adoption now that he is strong enough. He will continue to gain strength and nerve damage should continue to heal for the next several months. He should be considered a bit more fragile than other bunnies, due to his repaired leg which may also have some arthritis in the future, but overall has no restrictions.
Farley is friendly and super cute and great with his litterbox! He is now neutered and looking for his forever home.
