Meet Xena – A Brave Survivor Ready for Her Second Chance

Xena’s story is one of heartbreaking resilience and quiet strength. After being abandoned outdoors by her former owner, Xena and her companion struggled to survive. Within weeks, she had endured three back-to-back litters, the last one arriving just three days after her rescue. Malnourished and terrified, she arrived at the shelter in a state of trauma, unable to produce milk for her babies. Thanks to devoted volunteers, her surviving six kits were hand-raised and have all gone on to thrive.

Now it’s Xena’s turn to heal.

In foster care, Xena has slowly begun to trust and explore the safe, gentle world around her. She now binkies with joy at mealtime, accepts treats from her foster caregiver, and has even rediscovered the pleasure of a good bunny flop. She’s learning how to play, chew on toys, and “just be a bunny” for the first time in her life.

While she isn’t ready for petting just yet, we believe that with time, trust, and a lot of love, she’ll continue to blossom. We have spied her grooming her stuffed animal pals. A brave bunny friend may be the confidence boost she needs.

Xena has proven to be trustworthy during run time chewing on her toys and hidey houses. She would be an excellent free roam candidate, requiring multiple safe hidey houses to hide in while out and about.

Xena needs a very patient, rabbit-experienced adopter—someone who understands that trust takes time, and that every small victory is a huge leap forward for a rabbit who's survived so much.

She will do best in a quiet home with a predictable routine and plenty of space to feel safe and secure.

If you believe in the power of patience and are ready to help Xena write her next chapter, she just might be the rabbit for you.
