Meet Grace.

Some rabbits come to us needing a simple treatment.

Others need surgery.

And then there are rabbits like Grace—who remind us that rescue isn't always about finding a cure. Sometimes, it's about giving comfort, dignity, and love.

Grace is a cherished member of our Broken Lop Club. After advanced diagnostics, including a CT scan, our exceptional veterinary team discovered that she has severe middle ear disease with significant bone destruction in both ears. The disease extends so deeply that surgery would be extraordinarily risky because of its proximity to her brain.

As much as we wish we could fix her, this is one injury that medicine cannot safely repair.

We don't know exactly what Grace endured before she came to Indiana House Rabbit Society. We do know she was neglected. We know she didn't receive the veterinary care she desperately needed. And we know that, over time, a treatable condition became irreversible.

So we made a promise to Grace.

Instead of pursuing procedures that would cause more harm than good, we have chosen palliative care. Our focus is no longer on curing her disease—it's on giving her the very best quality of life for however long she has.

That means favorite foods.

Soft places to rest.

Gentle hands.

Pain management.

A safe home.

And all the love a rabbit could ever hope for.

Grace will never again wonder where her next meal is coming from or whether someone cares.

She will spend the rest of her days surrounded by people who adore her, and when she lets us know that she's ready, we'll give her the final gift of peace, with the same love and dignity that has guided every step of her journey.

Not every rabbit can be healed.

But every rabbit deserves to be loved.

And Grace will be—every single day.
